School Closed on Thursday, January 9th

Dear Salesian Students and Families -

Unfortunately, the emergency situation in the Los Angeles area continues to worsen with a fire now in the Hollywood Hills area.  In addition, the AQI continues to indicate that the air in the Boyle Heights area is unsafe to breathe.

School will be closed tomorrow (Thursday, January 9th) as we continue to monitor the fire and air quality situations.  Odd period teachers will post lessons/classwork for students or may send a Zoom link for students to meet during the regular class meeting time.  All student activities and athletic practices are cancelled for Thursday.

Please prioritize the health and safety of your family at this time.  If you live in an area under threat or adjacent to an evacuation zone, please listen to the advice of authorities regarding how to protect your family.

Please also pray for the members of our Salesian Family who have lost their homes, including a current junior family and recent alumnus.  We also have many Salesian alumni and parents/guardians working in law enforcement and firefighting.  We pray for their safety.

If you have any questions or concerns or have an urgent need that we can help you with, please email me at any time.  Our Salesian Family is strong, resilient, and animated by God's love.  Together we will care for each other and our neighbors.

With love and concern for all,

Mr. Johnson
