Several local and out-of-state college representatives visited Salesian, and have met with many of our senior during the months of September and October. Georgetown, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Holy Names, Grand Canyon, USC, UCLA, Stonehill, are some of the 20 + colleges that visited during the first quarter. These visits are an excellent way for students to learn about specific colleges and familiarize themselves with the admissions process. This is also an opportunity for the students of Salesian to start thinking about the next academic chapter in their lives.
The Guidance Office will now be hosting college excursion trips to local colleges throughout the 2017-2018 school year. On Wednesday, October 25, 2017, eight students participated in the first excursion trip to UCLA. This idea came from our own Dean of Students, Mrs. Stephanie Reyes, who she herself was once a college counselor. The students were given a campus tour and met various admissions counselors throughout their time on UCLA campus. Robert Burke, Salesian’s new Guidance and Technology Director, stated, “This is such a great thing for our students. It opens their eyes to the possibilities of attending these amazing universities. It also challenges the students to empower themselves in their academics and services, since universities are looking for well-rounded applicants.”
